Susan Peppercorn, founder and principal of Positive Workplace Partners, a career coaching consultancy whose clients are in their 50s and 60s, was recently featured in the Careers Now Section of TribuneContentAgency.com in an article titled How Do You Know When it is Time to Retire?
Susan provided several questions to consider before you make the leap to retirement.
Are you financially able? “When you’ve been working for 30 years or more, the idea of unscheduled days without pressure looks very appealing,” Peppercorn says. But be careful what you wish for if you haven’t taken stock of your finances! “If you haven’t taken financial stock of where you are, those unplanned days can quickly become burdensome,” she warns. “Before deciding that now is the time to retire, it’s essential to meet with a financial advisor to put a plan in place for your future financial security.”
